    TEMA confirms 17 flood-related deaths as of Wednesday

    TRI-CITIES (WJHL) – The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) has confirmed 17 weather-related fatalities as of Wednesday at 6:55 p.m.

    TEMA opens Multi-Agency Resource Centers (MARCs) across region

    According to the Tennessee Department of Health , the fatalities occurred in the following counties:

    • Two in Cocke County
    • One in Greene County
    • One in Knox County
    • One in Johnson County
    • Eight in Unicoi County
    • Four in Washington County

    On Wednesday afternoon, Unicoi County EMA Director Jimmy Erwin confirmed that officials are still searching for one missing resident.

    FEMA has exceeded $344 million in federal disaster assistance to over 375,000 families.
