GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A woman is in the hospital after being shot twice during a reported burglary Friday morning, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD).

A news release from the GCSD states that around 3:40 a.m., deputies were called to a home in the 7000 block of Old Stage Road for a burglary in progress.

A caller had reportedly told dispatchers that someone was in his home, and he was going to his neighbor’s home to call for help due to his girlfriend still being inside.

Roughly 10 minutes later, a woman inside the home called first responders and said she had been shot twice.

When deputies arrived, they found a 24-year-old woman who had been shot in the hand and back. According to the GCSD, she was flown to the Johnson City Medical Center.

As of late Friday morning, the sheriff’s department stated she was in stable condition.

The GCSD’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene of the shooting and is investigating.

No further details or descriptions of a possible suspect were provided in the release.

if she was shot in the back doesn't that mean she was fleeing from the suspect? just wondering... I don't buy it either, his story just don't make sense...
