ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – It’s been the ‘Hole in the Wall’ since 1950.

Sammons boasts a rich history that Tri-Cities native Chris Davis plans to keep adding to.

“We have people that’ll come through and say ‘I came here as a kid,'” Davis said. “They’ll come back home for a holiday and stop by and pay us a visit. and we really appreciate that.”

Davis said there are plenty of toppings for your hot dogs. Everything from chili to slaw is available to dress up your dog.

However, the steamed bun may be the star of the show. Davis said that the start of a good hot dog begins with the bun.

“The steamed bun is kind of our signature trademark,” Davis said. “We offer a lot of things on the hot dog that everybody else may not offer.”

Although there’s just one Sammons location, the business gets plenty of business from across the region and across state lines.

“We have people that drive from even surrounding states,” Davis said. “It’s a local favorite, and it has been for many years.”

Davis said it’s the product and the effort it takes to provide it that makes Sammons the best in the region.

“We feel that our service and our hometown hospitality and those things really contribute to it,” Davis said.

Sammons is located at 2020 West Elk Avenue in Elizabethton.
