    NORTHEAST TENNESSEE (WJHL) — Hurricane Helene victims who experienced housing-related damages or losses can now apply for aid through the “REALTORS Relief Foundation.”

    State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City) stated the housing-related aid is offered by the National Association of Realtors and Tennessee Realtors.

    The application states that eligible households can get up to $1,000 in relief. That can include the following primary categories:

    • Monthly mortgage expense for a primary residence damaged by the Hurricane Helene disaster;
    • Monthly rental expense due to displacement from a household’s primary residence resulting from Helene;
    • Hotel reimbursement due to displacement from a primary residence due to the Hurricane Helene disaster.

    “The Tennessee Realtors have really stepped up to the plate and put together a great tool to aid flood victims in Upper East Tennessee,” Crowe said in a news release. “I highly encourage everyone that has been affected by Hurricane Helene to apply for this relief. Tennessee is the Volunteer State for a reason, and we are seeing why. Tennesseans must continue to come together to aid fellow citizens through a tragic time.”

    The deadline to apply for aid is Dec. 1. Applicants must live in Johnson, Unicoi, Cocke, Hawkins, Washington, Greene, Grainger, Hamblen or Carter counties.
