JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) – Tennessee’s oldest town hosted regional vendors today to raise money for those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The event was called “Rising Above—Downtown Jonesborough Helping Neighbors in Need.” Its goal was to provide a place for people to shop and vendors to sell their products after many local festivals were canceled during Helene.

Local vendors say they appreciate the opportunity to sell their products.

Robin Walters, who sells homemade, all-natural goat’s milk soap, is one of many vendors who will donate a percentage of their revenue to help Hurricane Helene victims. Walters, who is familiar with adversity, began her small business after her granddaughter was diagnosed with cancer; she has since become cancer-free.

“I’m grateful to be able to do that, and I feel like most of us vendors are also giving 10% back to the victims and the people who were affected by what’s going on,” said Walters, owner of Tennessee Homemade.

Donations for flood victims were collected at the Jonesborough Community Chest, Jonesborough Area Ministerial Association (JAMA) Food Pantry and the Jonesborough Police Department throughout the day.
