JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Friends of the Johnson City Public Library hosted a book sale through the weekend to benefit the facility.

Attendees scavenged for books, puzzles, CDs, and more. On Sunday, the library hosted its sack sale, where guests could take anything they could fit into any size bag for $5. The public donated all of the products on display throughout the year.

Kathy Hall, chair of the Friends of the Johnson City Public Library, said all proceeds benefit the library and its programs.

“So it goes to support programs,” Hall said. “Our summer reading program, the books that the library needs, some of the some of the programs that they have. And so we’re here to have fun, to sell books and to make money for the library.”

Hall said the book sale is an exciting day for the bookworms of Johnson City.

“It’s really the energy here,” she said. “I mean, you get a lot of book lovers together and it’s just a lot of fun. So it’s fun to talk with them. It’s fun to see the kids come in and arms full of books as they leave, and that’s really the fun.”

The Friends of the Johnson City Public Library said it would host another sale the last weekend in April.
