Silver Creek Church continues tradition with backpack distribution

HARVEY, Mich. (WJMN) – Silver Creek Church has been collecting hundreds of backpacks, along with school supplies, socks, toothbrushes, and other essentials. They will continue their tradition of serving the community with their Backpack S.O.S. event on Saturday, August 17.

In this instance, S.O.S. stands for serve our students.

The distribution of backpacks and supplies is from 9-11 on Saturday morning in the church parking lot on Silver Creek Road. This is intended as a drive through event.

The backpacks will be on carts so students can still look at their options and pick their own backpack. However, students do not need to be present for someone to come and pick up for them. In fact, there are no qualifications or questions. You just show up and get what you need.
