MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WJMN) — Marquette County Sheriff Gregory Zyburt has picked a new Undersheriff, choosing another long-time member of local law enforcement to help him lead his office.

On Sunday, Zyburt announced Captain Lowell Larson would succeed Daniel Willey as Undersheriff for Marquette County.

Zyburt provided an abbreviated list of Larson’s service, saying he first began his service with the county in 1999. Most notably, Larson has served for six years as a detective and 7 years in the Corrections Division, while most recently occupying the role of Captain of the Public Safety Division, which oversees several operations of the Sheriff’s Office.

Larson has also spent 10 years as a search and rescue volunteer, as well as having served as a medical examiner investigator, field training officer, and several other instructor positions.

“Captain Larson brings extensive knowledge of all department operations,” said Sheriff Zyburt, “and I am confident he will continue to provide remarkable service to the citizens of Marquette County in his new role.”

Larson succeeds former Marquette County Undersheriff Daniel Willey, who died in July .
