    Dirt bike rider dead after losing control, crossing center line in Calumet Twp.

    CALUMET TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJMN) — A spokesperson for Michigan State Police have confirmed that a man is dead after crashing his dirt bike near Copper City last week.

    According to MSP, deputies were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to the report of a crash where someone had died on Copper City Road, near Copper City on August 29.

    When they arrived, they found a 27-year-old man had been riding westbound on a dirt bike when he lost control on the pavement, crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming Jeep driven by a 45-year-old man.

    The dirt bike rider was ejected and first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

    MSP said they were assisted by the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department, Laurium Police Department, Mercy EMS and Patriot Towing.
