CRYSTAL FALLS, Mich. (WJMN) — After classes were canceled on Friday for students in the Forest Park School District due to a potential threat, the K-12 principal said a juvenile suspect has been identified and interviewed by police.

The first announcement of the closure came from FPSD K-12 Principal Jackie Giuliani early Friday morning.

Last night, the school was made aware of a potential threat of violence against Forest Park students.  The District immediately contacted law enforcement to aid in investigating the threat.  Crystal Falls City Police and the Iron County Sheriff’s Department have been actively investigating since the report was made.  There will be no school today, Friday, September 6th, 2024 and the Forest Park School District will be closed until the investigation is complete. We will update you with more information once it is available.

Later Friday afternoon, Giuliani told us that “the juvenile suspect connected to the potential threat to Forest Park has been interviewed by law enforcement and steps have been taken and are ongoing to mitigate the threat.”

On Thursday night, Superintendent of Superior Central Schools Bill Valima said law enforcement was investigating a threat against his district and decided to cancel classes Friday as well.

At this time it is unclear if school will remain closed on Monday. We will keep this story updated with the latest information.

These kids think it's a joke. It isn't. They should get charged and not just get a smack on the wrist.
