One Person Hurt In Elk River Crash
ELK RIVER (WJON News) -- One person was hurt in a crash between a car and motorcycle Saturday evening. The Minnesota State Patrol says at about 5:10 p.m. a car driven by 30-year-old Samantha Aschenbrener of Big Lake was turning onto Joplin Street NW and a motorcycle ridden by 45-year-old James Underwood of Big Lake was going west on Highway 10 when they crashed in the intersection of the two roads.
MN Senior Games Are Running Strong On Saturday [PHOTOS]
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- The Senior Games are in full swing on Saturday will with a host of events. There was Track & Field, plus Powerwalking at the Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School, Pickleball at Sta Fit in Sartell, Softball at the Whitney Fields, and Volleyball at the Whitney Center. 706 athletes from 24 states, and 118 Minnesota Cities are taking part.
Rice Days Winds Down Summer Festivals [PHOTOS]
RICE (WJON News) --Summer is winding down and so are the summer city festivals. Rice Days took place on Saturday with a ton of fun events for the whole family. There were kids' games and bouncy houses, and the Rice Days Market by the water tower, the kiddie parade at 11:45 a.m., and the full parade at Noon. The Parade featured classic cars, floats, and plenty of candy for the kids, plus a few stuffed animals being tossed from the attractions too.

Rockville Man Sentenced for Fatal Crash on Highway 10
FOLEY (WJON News) -- A Rockville man has been sentenced for causing a crash that killed his passenger last August. A Benton County judge has sentenced 27-year-old Aler Gomez-Lucas to three years and five months in prison Friday. He gets credit for serving for just over a year in jail.

The History of SCSU’s Oldest Existing Building and Stewart Hall
The oldest existing building on St. Cloud State University's campus is Lawrence Hall. The first Lawrence Hall, named after long-time faculty member Isabel Lawrence, opened in 1885 as a dormitory for women. SCSU Archivist Tom Steman says it was destroyed by fire in 1905. The new Lawrence Hall was built in 1905 on the same spot as the first building and is currently used as both a residence hall and for employee offices.

Coffee Bar Closes In Downtown St. Cloud After 1 Year
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- A downtown St. Cloud coffee shop has closed. Oblivion Coffee Bar and Mercantile located at 27 7th Avenue North last day of business was on Thursday. The sign posted on the door says after much consideration they have made the difficult decision to close the store and say thank you to the community for their patronage and memories.
