    JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Take some time to unwind with friends, family or yourself this weekend. Below you’ll find a list of some fun events going on this weekend (August 16-18) around Mississippi.

    Central Mississippi

    Mississippi Indie Film Forum – Jackson – Friday

    • Join the Mississippi Film Office and the Mississippi Film Society for an entertaining and informative weekend of independent film.

    Food Truck Friday – Jackson – Friday

    • This is a multi-vendor event celebrating Jackson’s food truck cuisine and culture.

    Belhaven Block Party – Jackson – Friday

    • There will be live music, drinks and ice cream.

    Fleet Feet Coffee Run – Ridgeland – Friday

    • The group usually makes a large loop around the area. After the run, the first round of coffee is free on Fleet Feet!

    Jordan Davis – Brandon – Friday

    • Jordan Davis will perform at the Brandon Amphitheater.

    A Southern Antiques Affair – Vicksburg – Friday

    • Enjoy an antique shopping extravaganza, exclusive tours, workshops, and antique appraisal services.

    Dinosaurs Around the World – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, cutting-edge research, in an outdoor environment surrounded by nature, you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles brought back to life.

    PAW Patrol Adventure Play Exhibit – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • Save the day through hands-on play at the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s summer exhibit in Jackson, PAW Patrol: Adventure Play!

    Flags from Mississippi – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • The exhibit features 20 flags made from a variety of fabrics, such as wool and silk. Some were sewn by hand. Highlights include an original Magnolia flag, adopted in 1861 as the first official flag of Mississippi, that has been saved by conservators after it became severely fragmented.

    What Became of Dr. Smith – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • What Became of Dr. Smith, is a large-scale, panoramic narrative painting by contemporary artist Noah Saterstrom. The exhibition delves into the life of Saterstrom’s great-grandfather.

    Tracing African American Ancestry Genealogy Workshop – Jackson – Saturday

    • This workshop will teach participants how to research African American genealogy through navigating county records and resources available in MDAH’s archival collections.

    Get Naked & Emerge Brunch and Symposium – Jackson – Saturday

    Mississippi Farmers Market – Jackson – Saturday

    • From persimmons to peaches, from bok choy to butter beans, the Mississippi Farmers Market is the one place to go for the freshest fruits and vegetables that are grown in the state.

    Mystery Dinner Theatre – Ridgeland – Saturday

    • Presented by The Detectives Comedy Dinner Theatre, the event will be held at Anjou.

    Live Jazz – Ridgeland – Saturday

    • This will be a tribute to Billie Holiday.

    Key City Summer of Sours ’24 – Vicksburg – Saturday

    • This will be a psychedelic journey through some truly incredible acidic beverages.

    Writing with Layers Writing Workshop – Vicksburg – Saturday

    • Novelist Joy Rancatore, a past winner of the Louisiana Indie Author Project, will do an author signing of her Carolina’s Legacy Collection Books, followed by a free workshop where she will discuss the publishing process from pen to published.

    Blues at The View Blues Fest 2024 – Vicksburg – Saturday

    • This will be a night of Blues featuring Karen Wolfe, Omar Cunningham and Crystal Thomas.

    Pulp Fiction at the Strand Theatre – Vicksburg – Saturday

    • This event is the 30th Anniversary of Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. Advance tickets are available at Highway 61 Coffeehouse for $9, or $10 at the door.

    Vicksburg Farmers’ Market – Vicksburg – Saturday

    • The event will be held at the Farmers’ Market Lot on the corner of Jackson and Washington Street.

    Live Blues Music – Natchez – Saturday

    • Come on down to Biscuits & Blues for some great live blues music by Doug Brousseau and Sam Hogan.

    Natchez Farmers Market – Natchez – Saturday

    • Every week there will be live fresh produce, baked goods, fresh dairy, and arts and crafts all from local growers and artists.

    Hot Girl Summer Sale – Jackson – Sunday

    • Come shop small and smart by buying second hand from some local gurlie pops, eat some brunch, and have fun!

    Soulful Sunday – Jackson – Sunday

    • Come down, catch some shade, and have a great time while enjoying a variety of food truck options and vendors.

    • Guests will have an extra hour to enjoy all the entertainment that Serengeti Springs has to offer including slides on the Tree Top Trek and the relaxation of the Pole´ Pole´ River. D J Kujho will be spinning tunes for guests throughout the evening.

    Bilingual Storytime – Hattiesburg – Friday

    • The Hattiesburg Zoo will host a free storytime event geared for children, who are not yet in school, and their caregivers.

    Pine Belt Women Business Owner Summit – Hattiesburg – Friday

    • The event aims to provide an opportunity for women business owners to find connection, information, and resources so that both the owner and business thrives.
