JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – The Capitol police chief said investigators have leads in the mass shooting that killed one person and injured five others at a Jackson bar.

Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey said some people walked into the Daiquiri Bar in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 17 and started shooting.

Luckey said officers are still investigating what led up to the shooting. According to the police chief, there was a possible fight that night or during the week before the incident.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart identified the victim who was killed as Niger Devon McGee, 25. The coroner said McGee was shot in the face. Investigators said two of the injured victims are still hospitalized.

“We do know that the ages of the injured ranged from 19 to 25. So, generally speaking, when you’re when you’re in a area with people at that age, the suspects are going to be of like age. So unfortunately, these young folks today, this is the way that they feel like they need to handle conflicts. And this is absolutely… it’s the wrong way to handle things, obviously. But the fact that they do it in such a public and crowded place is just… it’s absolutely just… it’s absurd,” Luckey said.

No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information about the shooting can contact Capitol police at 601-359-3125.

Officials with the Daiquiri Bar announced the business will be closed until further notice.
