    Jackson homeowner fires shot at suspect attempting to enter house: police

    JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A Jackson homeowner fired a shot at a suspect who was fleeing from police, authorities said.

    Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said Capitol police stopped a vehicle near Village Apartments on Raymond Road.

    According to Martin, the passenger in the vehicle, Marquavious Harris, fled the scene when officers revealed he had felony warrants from Florida.

    Police said Harris attempted to enter a residence, and the homeowner discharged a weapon. Harris was arrested with no serious injury and charged with possession of a controlled substance by Capitol police.
