According to Kittrell, the charges stemmed from an incident off of Highway 84 in Jefferson Davis County on November 14, 2021. Investigators said Johnson opened fire on Davis and Dedeaux from the backseat of Davis’ vehicle. Dedeaux was shot multiple times and survived his injuries.

Kittrell said Johnson also entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault for a shooting in Lawrence County that occurred on September 3, 2023.

Johnson was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison for the murder of Davis and 20 years for the shooting of Dedeaux. He was also sentenced to 20 years for the shooting in Lawrence County. All three sentences will be served concurrent with one another.
