Warren County to hold groundbreaking for new jail

VICKSBURG, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the new Warren County Jail.

The Vicksburg Post reported the groundbreaking will be held on Monday, September 16 at 11:30 a.m. The new jail will be located at 1200 U.S. Highway 80.

Officials said the new jail is being constructed to replace the current facility, which was built in 1907. The project is expected to cost $74 million and take about two years to complete.

According to officials, the new jail will initially hold 240 inmates.
