JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A Jackson woman now has a home that she can call her own.

A home dedication for Janice Barber was held on Thursday. Her family, along with volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and Nissan Canton, spent multiple weekends helping restore the home.

“It was a rocky road. Oh my gosh, I applied for a it once I got denied. So, God, I can’t do it no more. So I did it again. Like, I think a year ago, and I just… God heard my prayers, and I was approved for it. It was a hard road getting here, but we’re here,” Barber said.

The project rehabbed a current structure in Jackson, and Barber purchased the property with a 30-year, zero-interest mortgage. Nissan helped fund the rehab, and employees took part in the construction project from May to July.
