    Events happening this weekend in Mississippi: September 6-8

    JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Take some time to unwind with friends, family or yourself this weekend. Below you’ll find a list of some fun events going on this weekend (September 6-8) around Mississippi.

    Central Mississippi

    Victoria Meek: “Trees” – Jackson – Friday

    • There will be an artist talk on Friday, and the exhibition will continue through September 27.

    Food Truck Friday – Jackson – Friday

    • The multi-vendor event celebrating Jackson’s food truck cuisine and culture.

    Belhaven Block Party – Jackson – Friday

    • There will be live music, drinks and ice cream.

    Fleet Feet Coffee Run – Ridgeland – Friday

    • The group usually makes a large loop around the area. After the run, the first round of coffee is free on Fleet Feet!

    Dinner and a Movie: Beauty and the Beast – Clinton – Friday

    • Wear your favorite princess costume. Meet Belle at The Vault. Purchase food and snacks from local restaurants and food vendors. Enjoy princess-themed giveaways by Olde Towne merchants.

    Food Truck Friday – Byram – Friday

    • There will be a variety of food trucks, and voter registration will be available.

    Camp Tanglewood: Super Hunt Fundraiser – Vicksburg – Friday

    • This year’s fundraiser is a 2-Man Scramble open to the first 36 Teams that sign up and will have awesome payouts, prizes, food, and a lot of fun.

    Made in MS Movie Series: “The Help” – Vicksburg – Friday

    • Come enjoy a night at the movies at the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation.

    Hangar Hangover Aviation and Auto Show – Madison – Friday and Saturday

    • See World War II planes up close and personal with other specialty aircraft. Watch as they take off, fly, and land. Plane rides are available on both days.

    Dinosaurs Around the World – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, cutting-edge research, in an outdoor environment surrounded by nature, you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles brought back to life.

    PAW Patrol Adventure Play Exhibit – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • Save the day through hands-on play at the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s summer exhibit in Jackson, PAW Patrol: Adventure Play!

    Flags from Mississippi – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • The exhibit features 20 flags made from a variety of fabrics, such as wool and silk. Some were sewn by hand. Highlights include an original Magnolia flag, adopted in 1861 as the first official flag of Mississippi, that has been saved by conservators after it became severely fragmented.

    • Nuestro Mississippi uses photography and oral history to document Mississippi’s fastest-growing population: its Hispanic community.

    • What Became of Dr. Smith, is a large-scale, panoramic narrative painting by contemporary artist Noah Saterstrom. The exhibition delves into the life of Saterstrom’s great-grandfather.

    Jackson State University vs. Lane – Jackson – Saturday

    • Join the sea of fans cheering, the Sonic Boom of the South playing, and the unforgettable moments of college football.

    Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s Beloved Baroque – Jackson – Saturday

    • Get swept up in the rich charm of this perennially popular chamber concert highlighted by acclaimed guest viola de gambist Lisa Terry in Marais’ playful Couplets des Folies d’Espagne.

    Free Screening of “Transformers One” – Jackson – Saturday

    • The MS Film Society, in partnership with Paramount Pictures, is excited to offer a free preview screening of the new animated feature film, “Transformers One,” which tells the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron.

    Film Screening: Americanish – Jackson – Saturday

    • Enjoy Read-Along’s, art stations inspired by beloved books, and a library card registration table.

    Access for All: Free First Saturday at MMA – Jackson – Saturday

    • The first Saturday of every month, the Mississippi Museum of Art offers free access to special exhibitions thanks to the Art Bridges Foundation.

    Mississippi Farmers Market – Jackson – Saturday

    • From persimmons to peaches, from bok choy to butter beans, the Mississippi Farmers Market is the one place to go for the freshest fruits and vegetables that are grown in the state.

    Roll’n on the Rez – Ridgeland – Saturday

    • The event is open to all custom cars trucks and bikes. Vendors will be on hand with food inside Shuckers. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Brain Injury Association.

    9/11 Run to Remember 5K – Ridgeland – Saturday

    • This run/walk is not just about physical fitness but also about coming together as a community to show resilience and support for one another and first responders.

    Beauty and the Beast showing – Clinton – Saturday

    • Main Street Clinton will offer a sensory-friendly showing of Beauty and the Beast. Sensory-friendly showings feature lower volume, dim lighting, closed captions, and reduced crowd size.

    Fall Cleanup Day – Vicksburg – Saturday

    • This event will be from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center.

    Ghost Hunt at The McRaven – Vicksburg – Saturday

    • This event will be from 8:30 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. at the McRaven Tour Home. Conduct a paranormal investigation like you see on television.

    Leadership Natchez Kickball and Pickleball Tournament – Natchez – Saturday

    • Join the Natchez Leadership class of 2024 at the 14th annual Kickball Tournament – with the new addition of pickleball!

    Natchez Farmers Market – Natchez – Saturday

    • Every week there will be live fresh produce, baked goods, fresh dairy, and arts and crafts all from local growers and artists.

    Atomic Age Exhibit – Jackson – Saturday and Sunday

    • The exhibition explores the history of the Federal Civil Defense Administration established to prepare Americans for the perils of the new Atomic Age.

    Briarwood Market and Mixer – Jackson – Sunday

    • Get ready to explore a wide variety of local vendors and enjoy a fun-filled day of shopping, mingling, and discovering unique treasures.

    Screening: Rising Hope – Jackson – Sunday

    • This Mississippi-set documentary, Rising Hope, is a cinematic portrait of the forgotten Mississippi Delta that follows inspirational individuals, who, despite challenging personal hardships, are determined to keep hope alive in their communities and turn the tables on the degrading narrative of rural poverty.

    Briarwood Arts Center 2nd Birthday Bash – Jackson – Sunday

    • This year’s celebration will feature food trucks, art activities, an outdoor lounge, community resource tables, and great music.

    Friday Night at Spirit Park – Hattiesburg – Friday

    • This celebration kicks off our first home game weekend for Southern Miss football. There will be food trucks onsite and entertainment by DJ Dragon.

    Screaming Eagles – Hattiesburg – Friday

    • Screaming Eagles is designed to instill a sense of gameday tradition in the current USM student body. Students enjoy a first flight experience of running onto the field while The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band debuts its pregame show.

    Adult Pickleball Clinic – Hattiesburg – Friday

    • Learn pickleball basics and enjoy organized play while meeting new friends on the courts.

    FRIYAY Karaoke Night – Laurel – Friday

    • Enjoy karaoke at 320 5th St. in Laurel.

    Hub City Hot Air Balloon Festival – Hattiesburg – Friday and Saturday

    • The festival will have hot air balloons, exhibitors, food & entertainment each day.

    New Exhibit at Hattiesburg Pocket Museum – Hattiesburg – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

    • The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum has a new exhibit every month, so be sure to head downtown for a small surprise!

    Southern Miss vs. Southeastern – Hattiesburg – Saturday

    • The Golden Eagles take on the Lions at the first home football game of the season.

    Pride of Mississippi Halftime: Seymour’s Summer Hits – Hattiesburg – Saturday

    Creepy Creations with Cats – Hattiesburg – Sunday

    • Limited to just eight spaces, you’ll spend two eerie hours in the cat lounge, transforming old dolls into haunted masterpieces.
