JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – For those looking to win it all, Mississippi is among the places most overdue for a huge jackpot.

According to Powerball and Mega Millions jackpot winner lists, no Mississippian has ever won either. However, Mississippi’s bordering neighbors have residents who are national jackpot winners. This includes Alabama, where no state or national lottery systems exist. The national lottery drought factored into Lucky Me’s ranking of Mississippi as the fourth most overdue place for a big win.

The website analyzed data regarding where people won the lottery over the last decade. In the past 10 years, residents in 11 states and Washington, D.C., have yet to win the Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot. This includes Mississippi.

2024’s luckiest numbers in the Mississippi Lottery

The Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots currently rest at about $112 and $800 million, respectively. Below are statistics that may be helpful for those looking to win big:

    • The Mega Millions lottery numbers most overdue for a jackpot drawing include 49, 51, 65, 23 and 36.
    • The Powerball lottery numbers most overdue for a jackpot drawing include 60, 65, 66, 67 and 68.
    • The most common winning Mega Millions lottery numbers include 9, 39, 4, 18 and 46.
    • The most common winning Powerball lottery numbers include 10, 11, 17, 9 and 13.

No matter what numbers you pick, the likelihood of winning the Mississippi Lottery is significantly greater than that of the national lottery. A player’s odds of winning the jackpot for the Powerball is 1 in 292,201,338. For Mega Millions, it is 1 in 302,575,350. The odds of winning the Jackpot for Mississippi’s draw games range from 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 324,632.
