    Jackson police chief addresses officer-involved shooting

    JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade held a news conference on Monday to discuss a recent officer-involved shooting .

    The shooting occurred near Jamestown Way on Sunday, September 8.

    Wade said an officer was responding to a domestic violence call at a home. He said the suspect got into an altercation with the responding officer, before hitting the officer with a vehicle when he fled the scene.

    The police chief said the officer received an injury to his foot and leg from the vehicle. Wade said officers fired shots at the suspect’s vehicle.

    The unidentified suspect was hospitalized, and the officer was also taken to the hospital to be treated for his injury.

    Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating the shooting. Once MBI agents complete their investigation, they will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
