    Hattiesburg police need help solving fatal hit-and-run

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. ( WHLT ) – Hattiesburg police are asking for the public’s help to solve a fatal hit-and-run investigation.

    The incident occurred on May 18, 2023, around 8:50 p.m. on Edwards Street at Barkley Road.

    Laurel police to receive updated body cameras, tasers

    When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 63-year-old William Chambliss, of Hattiesburg, unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

    Police said they learned the collision had occurred in the northbound lane of Edward Street at Barkley Road. A witness told officers that a white Toyota Camry had sped off after they saw Chambliss in the roadway.
