RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Damage from Francine was minimal in Rankin County early Thursday morning.

Rankin County emergency crews said they were well prepared to help with any weather-related incidents from the storm. Crews were busy throughout the day. They checked roadways and looked for areas with flash flooding.

“We expected multiple trees down in the roadways. We also expect to see flash flooding in multiple locations just to the amount of rainwater that was coming in that was predicted. So, we prepare for that, and then we are relieved whenever it’s not as bad as we thought it was going to be,” said Brian Grantham, director of Rankin County Emergency Operations.

He encouraged residents to call the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office to report any downed trees.

For customers without power in Rankin County, Entergy Mississippi officials hope to restore power by Thursday night.
