JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Hinds County supervisors approved the budget for the next Fiscal Year, which includes a property tax increase.

The board voted in favor 4-1.

Every Hinds County property owner will see a 1.5 millage increase, which is projected to generate about $2.8 million. The highest increase owners could see on their property taxes is $3.13, depending on the value of your home.

The tax increase helps support county government and debt on the new jail.

What we want to know is why are there so many vehicles and pieces of equipment in disrepair at the Raymond Maintenance facility? The signage for the Hinds Parkway in Byram sat unfinished for almost a year while vendors were owed money. What is going on? Roads are in terrible shape, bridges need replacing, right of ways are not cut or trimmed. This smells
