OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in North Mississippi.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said the shooting occurred on Monday, September 16 when officers with the Olive Branch SWAT Team attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a home on Railroad Avenue.

    Man arrested for Hazlehurst robbery

According to Martin, the suspect pointed a weapon at the officers, and the officers fired shots at the suspect. The suspect received fatal injuries, and the officer involved did not receive any serious physical injuries.

There’s only 2 reasons why anyone would aim a firearm or weapon at an officer of the law. 1.) They didn’t realize it was police and they were defending their home. 2.) They wanted to die by someone else’s hand. Hopefully the findings of the investigation by MBI will be out soon. Prayers to all involved. Anytime someone passes it’s a sad day. I am glad to hear no officers were severely injured. Thank God they can go home tonight to their families!
