Gasoline prices remained unchanged this past week, even as conflict in the Middle East escalates between Israel and Hezbollah. The national average cost for a gallon of gas is 17 cents below its level one month ago, according to AAA data.

Oil prices, the largest factor influencing the price of gas at the pump, fell slightly off the news of the Federal Reserve’s decision to cut interest rates amid a slowing U.S. economy. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is also monitoring a storm that has the potential to become a hurricane as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico this week. The hurricane season has thus far been muted, but late-season storms still pose a potential disruption to oil and gas production.

Some states have seen rising gas prices due to refinery issues in recent weeks. According to GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan, those could be resolved soon , delivering relief for drivers in Nevada, California, and western Arizona.
