    Madison police arrest man for trying to break into homes

    MADISON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Madison police arrested a man after he allegedly tried to break into two homes.

    Officers responded to the area of Calumet Drive around 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27. They said a man was observed on the back porch of a residence, and the homeowner had observed the man around a vehicle at the house.

    Granddaughter of Medgar and Myrlie Evers reported missing

    Once patrol units arrived at the scene, they received a second call in the Trace Vineyard Subdivision regarding a man looking into the front door of a home.

    Officers said they located Edward Earl Brown, 34, inside the carport area of the residence. He was arrested without incident.

    Brown has been charged with two counts of attempted burglary, felon in possession of a weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigators said they will follow up with the Madison District Attorney’s Office concerning prior arrests for house burglary.

    Brown is being held at the Madison County Detention Center awaiting his initial appearance in court.
