    State Route 149 bridge closed for replacement project

    SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – The Strong River bridge on State Route 149 in Simpson County has been closed for a replacement project.

    According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), the bridge closed on Thursday, September 26. The replacement work is expected to take between 12 and 18 months.

    Officials said the closure affects both directions of SR 149 between Teapot Road and South Poplar Street.

    The bridge and the main entrance to the D’Lo Water Park will be inaccessible during the project. Visitors to the D’Lo Water Park should utilize the back entrance to the park via U.S. 49.

    Drivers should seek alternate routes and are reminded to be on high alert for roadside workers.
