2 dead after murder-suicide outside Picayune hospital

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. ( WHLT ) – Picayune police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred outside a hospital.

Officers responded to Highland Community Hospital just before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26. The incident occurred inside a vehicle near the emergency room drop off.

According to police, the caller, Helena Malone, stated that she had shot her mother, and she needed help. Before officers arrived at the scene, they said Malone had shot herself.

ER personnel transported Malone and her mother to the emergency room, but they both died from their injuries.

No one else was injured during the incident.
