Robert Barnett wins Heidelberg mayoral election

JASPER COUNTY, Miss. ( WHLT ) – There is a new mayor for the Town of Heidelberg.

According to the City Clerk’s Office, Robert Barnett, a former Heidelberg alderman, won Thursday’s run-off election against Shana Taylor. Barnett received 132, and Taylor received 125.

Taylor is the wife of the late Mayor David Taylor II, who died in July .

The City Clerk’s Office said Barnett will be certified and sworn in within the next 10 days. He will serve out the remainder of Mayor Taylor’s term.
