    Louisiana man charged with threatening Mississippi school

    WALTHALL COUNTY, Miss ( WHLT ) – A Louisiana man was arrested after he allegedly made a bomb threat against a Mississippi school.

    Walthall County deputies said the incident occurred at the Dexter Attendance Center on September 24, 2024. An explosives canine, with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, also responded to the scene and assisted the sheriff’s office in clearing any potential active threat.

    One killed in crash on Highway 84 in Wayne County

    Walthall County investigators, with assistance from the Office of Homeland Security, identified the suspect as Joshua Allen Dawson, of Marrero, Louisiana. They said he was the suspect in a similar March threat against the Dexter Attendance Center.

    Dawson was arrested by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office on September 25. He waived extradition and was transported to the Walthall County Jail. He has been charged with two counts of making of terroristic threats.

    Dawson is being held on a $24,500 bond.
