RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Rankin County deputies arrested a woman after she allegedly stole 200 pieces of U.S. mail.

In September 2024, investigators said the sheriff’s office received a report of fraudulent activity related to multiple unauthorized charges at convenience stores within the county. During their investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Jecyn Leigh Nino, 36, of Brandon.

Nino was arrested during a motor vehicle stop. Investigators determined she was staying at an Airbnb location within Rankin County. A search warrant for the property led investigators to discover 200 pieces of stolen U.S. mail and 150 stolen checks.

Investigators said Nino stole checks out of the U.S. mail in Rankin, Madison and Hinds counties. She was charged with two counts of credit card fraud, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle while in possession of a firearm.

According to authorities, additional state charges may be added as more victims are identified.

Officials said the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office has been in communication with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service regarding the stolen mail.
