OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — A body found in Olive Branch on Wednesday is now the center of an investigation, and a mother who says her son has been missing for a month is waiting for answers.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office confirms that remains were found on Polk Lane in Olive Branch.

Maranda Davis say, after talking to investigators, she believes that it is the body of her 26-year-old son, Brandon McNeal, who she said has been missing for 46 days as of Friday.

“They said the homeowners called that someone had dropped off hay and they don’t usually go out on in the field, but they went out in the field and it was laying there. They found him,” Davis said. “I broke down, I said, so you’re telling me that my kid is gone?”

Man sentenced for beating death outside Mississippi restaurant

Davis says though she reported McNeal missing in August, the Olive Branch Police never publicly released information about his disappearance because of his drug addiction.

“He is bipolar and schizophrenic and he is my child. I love my kid, and everyone needs help,” she said.

The family is told an autopsy will take about a month. Until then, Davis says she is waiting for answers.

“Just do as much as they can to give me information to let me know what happened with my child,” she said.

DCSO says the investigation is ongoing so not much information can be released.

am I the only one who thinks it is kind of tacky to even mention his drug addiction? isn't the fact that he was missing enough?
