JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – The Jackson Police Department (JPD) closed out their Faith and Blue Weekend with a prayer ceremony on Monday.

The weekend was filled with events that focused on connecting citizens with the officers who serve them.

“We are so happy that we have come together as one to make sure that we can come here today and pray in unity about the things that we want to see changed in the City of Jackson,” said Sgt. Fredrick Suttles with JPD.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said his administration will continue to work to build confident relationships in the community.

“We want to make sure we’re working in lockstep with the community. We want to make sure that we’re taking next steps, actionable measures, tangible efforts, along with the community. We as a community, we as community leaders can no longer sit back and point a finger at the problem,” said Wade.

Ministers across Jackson joined to pray for officers, JPD and the city.
