Man wanted for double homicide in Missouri arrested in Mississippi

WAYNE COUNTY, Miss. ( WHLT ) – A man who was wanted for a double homicide in Missouri was arrested in Mississippi.

According to Springfield, Missouri, police, 40-year-old Jeffrey Garrett, of St. Louis, was arrested in Waynesboro on October 14, 2024.

Garrett was wanted in connection to the deaths of Jack Osborn, 46, and Melissa Evans, 44, on July 5. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.

Garrett will be held with no bond.

I was supposed to be there, mellissa asked me to her barbecue. "nephew" or "neph" was mellissas friend. In fact, two days before that, she was defending neph to a friend of mine where he used to stay. I heard Jack told mellisa he didn't want to do any business with dude and when mellissa asked nephew to go outside where Jack escorted him. neph waited till jacks back was turned and shot Jack in the back of the head. mellissa heard the blast & ran outside as soon. As she opened the door, he shot her 5 times in the torso and face. nephews' side peice was staying with mellisa and probably the only reason she survived, and of course, dude, that drove nephew away. I think the dude saw everything, plus mellissa had door cameras recording, and he knew that. I always said dude was greesie like he was two smooth and slick when he spoke and did business that you knew he was trying to scam everyone. I hope he gets the death penalty. mellissa was a good person, and so was Jack.
