COLUMBUS , Ohio (WKBN) — Two busts involving drugs and cash on Interstate 70 have become some of the largest in state history, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said Thursday.

The first happened on Aug. 3 in Madison County, near Columbus.

State organized crime investigators, federal drug task force agents and troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped a commercial vehicle.

They found 300 pounds of methamphetamine, 17.6 pounds of cocaine and 30 pounds of marijuana, according to the attorney general.

The contraband has an approximate street value of $14.6 million.

Another bust on Aug. 6 led to the discovery of over $935,000 cash, the attorney general said.

It happened when law enforcement stopped another commercial vehicle on I-70 in Clark County that was thought to be involved in drug trafficking.

“Drug traffickers intent on delivering destruction to central Ohio should take note — our task force and our partners are watching,” Yost said.

To compare, in all of 2023, major drug task forces seized a total of 349 pounds of meth and $5.5 million cash in Ohio.
