    NWS confirms 5th tornado touched down in Northeast Ohio

    BAY VILLAGE, Ohio (WJW) – The National Weather Service has confirmed a fifth tornado that touched down during last week’s storms, causing widespread damage and power outages across Northeast Ohio.

    According to surveyors, the EF-1 tornado touched down in Bay Village, near Lake Road, around 3:54 p.m. Tuesday.

    It continued southeast toward Northfield Road and Longbeach Parkway, damaging trees in Huntington Reservation and along Wolf Road and West Oakland Road as it crossed paths with another tornado that traveled into Rocky River, NWS reported.

    FirstEnergy continues to restore power for thousands

    Experts say the tornado caused damages to trees, roofs and sheds along West Oakland Road, where it peaked at 110 mph winds.

    The tornado made its way to Westlake, near Cahoon Road, and passed over Cahoon Creek. It then damaged trees along Georgetown Drive, Ellington Road and Langale Road before dissipating around 3:56 p.m.

    The NWS says the tornado, 1.75 miles long and 250 yards wide, didn’t cause any known injuries.

    This was the latest of five confirmed EF-1 tornadoes that spanned across Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Summit counties Tuesday afternoon. No deaths have been reported.

    The longest tornado, 17 miles, passed through seven Northeast Ohio cities .
