    Car stolen with toddler inside involved in chase: Police

    AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – The Akron Police Department is investigating a vehicle theft and chase that put a toddler in danger.

    According to police, a 2-year-old child was left unattended in a running vehicle at the Circle K on E. Market St.

    The car was stolen with the child inside it.

    Police said officers pursued the car through West Akron. At one point, the suspect hit a police cruiser, according to a press release.

    Police said the suspect took the child out of the car and left him in his car seat at Moon St. and Bellevue Ave.

    Officers recovered the toddler. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation but did not appear to be hurt, police said.

    The driver of the stolen vehicle continued to run from police, according to a press release, until he was apprehended in the 1500 block of Superior Ave. just after 9 a.m.

    Police said Ja Den White, 21, is facing charges.

    Police recovered a handgun from the vehicle.
