    Where Ohio ranks in US Olympic gold medals

    (WJW) – The United States isn’t just the winningest team at the 2024 Paris Olympics .

    The US has the most medals of any country since the first Summer Olympics, with more than 3,000 medals.

    Northeast Ohio native athletes competed in Olympics — who won medals?

    So how does that break down by state? The Buckeye State has plenty of gold.

    Sports Geek broke down the data from the International Olympic Committee on summer Olympic medals. The data left out team wins since winners come from multiple states.

    Three are ahead of the rest when it comes to who has the most gold medalists.

    Ohio had 44 medal winners, even before the Paris Olympics.

    Simone Biles is the most decorated athlete from Ohio, with 11 medals, 7 of them gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
