(WJW) — Local police over the past two days responded to reports of threats at local malls — but the calls turned out to be hoaxes.

Fairlawn police responded just before 2 p.m. on Sunday to Summit Mall for a report of an active shooter, but they didn’t find any evidence of a shooting, victims or witnesses.

The mall remained open on Sunday, but with “extra attention” from local officers, police wrote on Facebook .

Officers from Akron, Copley, Bath and Summit Metro Parks and Summit County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene.

On Monday, a bogus, emailed bomb threat for Sandusky Mall brought Perkins Township police, as well as Erie County sheriff’s deputies and their bomb-sniffing K-9.

Similar threats also came via email for other Ohio malls, police wrote on Facebook that morning.

Officers on Monday morning checked the Sandusky Mall, which was sparsely populated at the time. It was cleared and reopened for business.

Back in April, another 911 hoax in Niles, Trumbull County, alleged a man had a semi-automatic rifle at the Eastwood Mall, FOX 8 sister station 27 First News reported .
