CLEVELAND (WJW) — The FOX 8 I-Team just obtained the 911 call with a woman asking for a Cleveland ambulance so that she could charge her phone.

The I-Team revealed the request a couple of weeks ago after severe weather and power outages.

Now, you can hear the actual call.

No question about what she really wants from EMS. She wants her phone charged. But, when a dispatcher hesitates, the caller then mentions medical issues.

Where were the cops? Extreme delays in Cleveland explained

A woman called for an ambulance at East 86th Street and Cedar Avenue in Cleveland.

Well into the call, the woman mentioned medical issues, and she got an ambulance in 3 minutes.

The recording of the call shows a dispatcher asking, “Why do you need to go to the hospital, Ma’am?”

The caller says, “Because the police did not come and get me…let me charge my phone. Take me back home. I need to charge my phone.”

The dispatcher, then, asks, “You want me to give you an ambulance, so you can go to the hospital to charge your phone?”

And, the caller responds with,  “To charge the phone, yes.”

Later, you hear the dispatcher also say, “We have a lot of people who are having life and death emergencies.”

To that, the caller responds with, “I can’t walk…I have a torn rotator cuff. And I need to charge my phone.”

EMS spent nearly an hour at the scene, but we’re told the woman refused to go to the ER.

The caller also told dispatch she had just gotten out of rehab and she did not have mental health problems.
