CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — A Cleveland Heights institution is closing this weekend, the owner confirmed to FOX 8 News.

Nighttown, which reopened under new ownership from Red the Steakhouse in November, is reportedly shutting its doors come Sunday after regular business hours.

FOX 8 News reached out to the restaurant group and, according to management, they were not prepared to release a reason for the closure yet.

People in Cleveland Heights on Wednesday reacted to news of the Cedar Road establishment’s closure.

“I’m heartbroken because we’ve been waiting for so long to be reopened,” said resident Karyn Elkanich.

The restaurant/bar/music venue reopened after significant renovation delays last year. Updates to the building included the kitchen, bathroom, audio-visual system and seating.

“It’s unique, live music, they had just updated it,” said resident Omar Main.

The restaurant previously closed down in March 2020 due to the pandemic, but had been providing a space for jazz lovers to congregate since 1965.
