Weekend weather: Humidity rising, potential for storms

(WJW) – Saturday night will be mostly clear to partly cloudy. Overnight lows will be in the lower to mid 60s.

The second half of the weekend will be just as warm, if not warmer, and humid. With dew point temperatures warming into the 60s, the air will start to feel sticky Sunday afternoon.

Many will not need their rain gear on Sunday. However, a few rain showers and storms cannot be ruled out. A stronger storm capable of gusty winds, brief heavy rain, and frequent lightning cannot be ruled out. Sunday will be far from a washout. There will be more dry time than time with rain showers and storms.

The heat and humidity will continue to build early next week. Highs on on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. The hottest day next week looks like it is going to be Tuesday. Heat indices could reach the upper 90s Tuesday afternoon.

An upper-level ridge will keep rain chances down through the middle of next week. This hot, dry weather pattern will not start to breakdown until the end of the workweek.

A cold front looks like it will arrive right before the Labor Day holiday weekend. This front will bring in our next best chance of rain and cooler temperatures for the unofficial end to summer. Here’s the latest 8-Day Forecast:
