    Ohio’s fall hunting season to begin in September: Details

    OHIO (WJW) – Ohio’s fall hunting seasons for squirrels, doves, and specific waterfowl will soon be opening in September.

    According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife , it is important that hunters check the current hunting regulations for changes to season dates and daily limits.

    Hunting season start dates:

    • Sept. 1 – Jan. 31: Hunting season for squirrels (fox, red, and gray)
    • Sept. 1 – Nov. 3 and Dec. 7 – Jan. 1: Dove hunting
    • Sept. 1: Rail (Virginia and Sora), snipe, and gallinule hunting begins
    • Sept. 7-15: Early Canada goose hunting
    • Sept. 7 – 22: Early teal (blue-winged and green-winged) hunting
    • Sept. 28: Deer archery season begins statewide
    • Sept. 14: Deer archery season begins for hunters in the disease surveillance area (all of Hardin, Marion, and Wyandot counties as well as Auglaize and Jackson townships in Allen County)
