BEREA, Ohio (WJW) – Austin said Wednesday, August 29, started like any average day. But a stop at the gas station left him $50,000 richer.

According to the Ohio Lottery , Austin purchased a $10 scratch-off ticket at Speedway #8133 in Berea.

He bought one $500,000 Platinum Jackpot ticket.

“I went to the car and started scratching it and then I realized it was $5,000 after $5,000 after $5,000,” he told the Ohio Lottery. “I called my wife. I was shaking so bad; she couldn’t even see the ticket on FaceTime.”

He said he then went to the cashier and asked him to cash the ticket.

“I was like, ‘It’s a big one’ and then he laughed,” he said. “He was like, ‘I can’t believe I just sold this guy a $50,000 ticket five minutes ago.'”
