2 Ohio state parks named best to visit this fall

(WJW) – Getting to one of the country’s top park destinations doesn’t mean you have to go far.

Two state parks in Ohio have been named among the best in the nation.

HomeToGo researchers looked at the top 50 state parks travelers have been searching for along with taking into consideration photogenic appeal and wildlife diversity.

Here’s what made the list:

Hocking Hills State Park

Hocking Hills State Park is made up of dense forests, caves, deep gorges and waterfalls.

The 2,300-acre park has hundreds of miles of trails to explore.

Mohican State Park

Mohican State Park in Loudonville is another top destination in Ohio that made the list.

It has 1,110 acres of waterfalls, a covered bridge and beautiful fall foliage.

• Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Texas
• Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio
• Mohican State Park, Ohio
• Lake of the Ozarks State Park, Missouri
