1,000-Lb. Sisters’ Amy Slaton arrested after being bitten by camel; mushrooms, marijuana reportedly found

ALAMO, Tenn. (WJW) — More information has been released following the arrest of Amy Slaton Halterman — who, along with her sister Tammy, stars in “1,000-Lb. Sisters” — at a Tennessee zoo on Labor Day.

Deputies responded to Safari Park Monday after someone was bitten by a camel, according to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department .

People magazine and the Associated Press have now confirmed the animal bit Halterman. It was not immediately clear what led to their interaction.

Upon arrival, deputies reportedly saw a vehicle, which Halterman and Brian Scott Lovvorn were inside of, and were “immediately overtaken by suspicious odors.”

The department’s public information officer told People , they discovered “what they believed to be mushrooms” and “what they believed to be marijuana” inside the vehicle.

Halterman and Lovvorn were arrested and charged with illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule IV and two counts of child endangerment, the department said. Halterman was treated for her bite before being taken to jail.

Family members were taking custody of Halterman’s two children for the time being, People learned. No one else was reported injured in the incident.
