Ohio Lottery celebrates 50 years with fun event for 150 lucky winners

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio Lottery celebrated it’s 50th anniversary at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Saturday night.

The “Fun Turns 50” party included 150 lucky winners from all over Ohio and their guests.

They’re lucky because their win came off of losing lottery tickets and scratch-offs that they entered into a second-chance drawing through the MyLotto Rewards program.

All 150 winners won $3,500 by winning the random drawing. They then got to have a VIP experience at the Rock Hall that included music, drinks, food, and a lot of prizes.

The Ohio Lottery also handed out a total of $400,000 split between five extra lucky winners.

“It is really exciting to talk to them, to hear their stories, and just to get to meet them in person and see how excited they are. It’s really fun for us, too,” Ohio Lottery Communications Director Danielle Frizzi-Babb said.

To cap it all off, the attendees were also able to stay the night at Hotel Cleveland.

As lottery officials celebrated half a century, Frizzi-Babb noted that their mission is to raise money to support education.

“We’re really proud that over those 50 years we’ve contributed $32.5 billion for education here in Ohio,” she said.
