CLEVELAND (WJW) – Before the first kickoff of the season, Cleveland fans dream of all the possibilities a Browns’ season holds.

Fans got quite the wake-up call yesterday when the Browns hit the field for the first regular season game of the 2024-25 season.

The Browns didn’t just lose their home opener; they did it spectacularly, with quarterback Deshaun Watson being hit 17 times and TE David Njoku leaving the game with an ankle injury.

Njoku was in a walking boot in the locker room after the game. He’ll undergo testing Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

Deshaun Watson didn’t play in the preseason, so fans got their first look at his progress Sunday following last season’s shoulder surgery.

He was sacked 6 times and intercepted twice. The $230 million quarterback has started just 13 games with Cleveland in 3 years.

“They just played a bad game,” said former Cleveland Browns running back Greg Pruitt.

Pruitt joined the FOX 8 morning team Monday for a review of the game.

“It was a no-show,” he said about the Browns’ performance.

The Browns’ performance was so bad; fans booed the team as they left the field after the first half.

DE Myles Garrett said the team deserved it.

“They come in, they pay to see us do well and we didn’t, and we got to put on better performance if we expect them to go out there and support us in full force. So, we got to be better, and that’s all on us,” Garrett told reporters.

Dallas sealed the deal with a final score of 33-17.

The Browns are now 0-1, along with much of the AFC North.

However, the Pittsburgh Steelers clinched their win in Week 1, and now become the division leaders.

Cleveland has a week to get ready for Jacksonville.

The Jaguars dropped a close game Sunday against Miami.

Browns at Jacksonville kicks off at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 15.
