Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw investigated for alleged misconduct

(WKBN) — Norfolk Southern’s Board of Directors has opened an investigation into its CEO Alan Shaw.

The company acknowledged on Sunday allegations of potential conduct by Shaw that are “inconsistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and company policy.”

The directors have hired a law firm to conduct an independent investigation of the allegations. The company and board will not provide further until the investigation is complete.

Shaw became one of the main faces following the Feb. 2023 train derailment in East Palestine that led to a great fire and chemical spill. He was named railroad innovator of the year for his response following the incident.

In May , an activist investor Ancora attempted to take control of the board and replace company management but was not ultimately successful, winning three board seats but not gaining control over Shaw’s position.
