Kathy Bates to retire from acting after filming Matlock

(WJW) – Kathy Bates says she plans on retiring from her acting career once she finishes filming her latest role.

The 76-year-old actress, best known for her roles in Misery, Titanic, Dolores Claiborne and many more, broke the news to the New York Times in an interview on Sept. 8.

According to Bates, her role of Madeline Matlock in the reboot Matlock will likely be her last.

“This is my last dance,” she told the New York Times .

Bates said in the interview that although she already had retirement plans before this role came along, she had to take on this last project.

Matlock will premier on Sept. 22 on CBS. It will later be available to watch on Paramount+.
